Who we are
The Washington College Academy of Lifelong Learning draws from a diverse population, much of it centered around historic Chestertown and other Kent County communities on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. Participants engage with other adults pursuing learning for its own sake without the stress of exams, term papers or grades. The range of courses allows members to review a favorite topic or explore new subject matter, selecting the learning styles and activity levels that most suit their needs.
Participation in WC-ALL’s activities may include attending late afternoon classes and Learn-at-Lunch lectures as well as trips and other special events. The core of WC-ALL’s philosophy, the peer-led course system, allows members to share a life-time of experience or a passionate hobby. In addition to volunteer and leadership roles supporting WC-ALL’s activities, many members participate in the mentoring program run by Washington College’s Global Education Office to the benefit of international students.
