In addition to First Year Orientation, Pre-Orientation trips are available to all incoming students. The Office of Student Development is responsible for planning and implementation of these three to four day trips.

Our unique three and four day Pre-Orientation Programs offer an exciting and inspiring start to your first year at Washington College. Each Pre-Orientation experience provides you an opportunity to gain valuable leadership skills, get a jump-start on getting involved on campus, and meet other students with similar interests. You also will be able to move in early and begin to learn the ins and outs of the Washington College campus before the formal new student orientation program begins on August 27th, 2009.

We believe that a positive college experience for students, rich with opportunities for personal development, will help students to achieve the following results: (1) Intellectual Growth and Valuing the Liberal Arts Education; (2) Personal Responsibility and Developing Independence and Interdependence; (3) Honoring and Valuing Diversity; and (4) Knowledge of Chestertown and the Eastern Shore Area. Additionally we believe that involvement in a Pre-Orientation experience increases engagement among small groups of first year students, helping to develop a strong network with both peers and staff members at the College.

If you have any questions about the program, please do not hesitate to call the Office of Student Development at 410-778-7277.
