Leadership Awards Criteria

  1. Unsung Hero Award. This award honors two staff members who have contributed outstanding service and dedication to the campus community. The service provided by the nominees should be beyond the call of duty and exceed expected job requirements. Nominees must be below the level of Director. Undergraduate students are not eligible for this award.

  2. Outstanding Organization Advisor Award. This award is presented to an organizational advisor who has contributed outstanding service to an organization. The service provided by the nominee must be voluntary, non-compensated activities at Washington College.

  3. Outstanding Community Service Award – Individual. This award honors a student who has contributed outstanding service to the campus. The service provided by the nominee should be voluntary, non-compensated activities at the college, or in the Chestertown community. This award is presented to a student who makes service a priority, and has made an impact on the campus community through service.

  4. Outstanding Community Service Award – Organization. This award honors a recognized organization that has contributed outstanding service to the campus. The service provided by the nominee should be voluntary, non-compensated activities at the college, or in the Chestertown community. This award is presented to a student who makes service a priority, and has made an impact on the campus community through service.

  5. Outstanding Service Project/Fundraising Event.  This award is presented to an organization that promotes dedication to serving others and/or fundraising.  This award recognizes an outstanding service project or fundraising event that was held this year to benefit a philanthropic organization.

  6. Washington College Leadership Award - Individual. This award is presented to a student who best exemplifies strong leadership qualities. This award recognizes a student as being especially dedicated to both academic and extracurricular activities. This student has made outstanding contributions to campus-wide programs, and displayed positive leadership in and out of the classroom. The nominee for this award may be a student that is compensated for their work.

  7. Washington College Leadership Award – Organization. This award is presented to an organization that best exemplifies strong leadership qualities, and has made outstanding contributions to campus wide programs. The nominees for this award may be an organization with compensated officers.

  8. Leadership in Athletics Awards. This award honors a varsity student-athlete who has made a positive impact on the Washington College community through his or her participation in athletics, in addition to maintaining a leadership role in a student club or organization.

  9. First Year Leadership Award. This award honors a student who has demonstrated superior service to the campus during his or her first year of college. He or she should be a student who shows promise as a future leader on campus. All nominees must have at least a 2.5 GPA and must have completed at least one semester as a full time student by the time the nomination is received.

  10. Outstanding Senior Award. This award is presented to as many as four seniors who have demonstrated active involvement both on the Washington College campus, and in the Chestertown community. All nominees must be seniors (as defined by the College with regards to credits), and have at least a 3.0 GPA.
     
  11. New Program Initiative Award.  This award honors an individual or recognized organization that attempted to create a new campus program.  The award winner is recognized for their successful use of innovative ideas to create a new program at Washington College.
