Ready to be done with finals and head home for winter break? Just remember that for the rest of your time here this semester, starting after 9:00 PM on Thursday, December 5, quiet hours will be in effect 24 hours through the end of the semester. Let’s give each other the quiet to study hard!
We are hard at work preparing for the coming spring semester - and we’re excited about everything that’s happening! You may find a few updates around campus and see a few new faces - all part of our ongoing efforts to give you the best educational experience possible.
So how soon can you go back to your family for some tender love and care?
Students will need to vacate their residence halls within 24 hours of their last final exam. Just remember to fill out your sign-out sheet, which will be posted in your hall, in order to let your RA know when you will be leaving. Those not leaving during finals week must leave by Saturday, December 14 at noon.
While it is not necessary to take all of your belongings with you over break, students are encouraged to bring any valuables and anything they think they may need with them over break as they will not be able to access their rooms after their time of departure.
Please remember to turn off all of your lights, take out your trash, close and lock your windows and doors, and unplug everything prior to your departure. All personal refrigerators will need to be defrosted and unplugged. College installed refrigerators in Western Shore, Harford, The Quad, and Kent Crossing may remain on. Please make sure that all holiday decorations, including lights, are unplugged and removed.
Public Safety will begin inspecting rooms after noon on Saturday, December 14.
Residence Halls will open Sunday, January 19, beginning at 9:00am. We will not be able to allow early arrivals for students, so please plan accordingly. If for some reason we need to change the opening date due to weather conditions, information will be sent to the student and parent lists. Servers and the washcoll.edu website will be updated.
Room changes for next semester will have already been made by Tuesday, December 3. Any students who are changing rooms must do so by noon on Saturday, December 14. If students are unable to change rooms by this date, they must take all of their personal items home and move into the new housing assignment upon return in January. This will allow our Buildings and Grounds staff to clean and prepare rooms for incoming students.
Students who currently DO NOT have a roommate should assume that a roommate will be assigned to them during break. Accordingly, please be sure that ½ of your room is cleaned and ready for the next student.
Please make the necessary plans to arrive on the correct day for the spring semester - convenience is not an approved reason to arrive early.
Have a safe & restful break!
