Zimbra chat allows you to communicate with colleagues, classmates, friends and support right alongside your email, documents and calendar.
Chat is an extension of the Zimbra collaboration suite that allows you to message your campus email contacts inside the web client interface. Unlike regular email messaging, chat lets you talk back and forth instantly. You can use Zimbra's chat feature in lieu of a meeting with a traveling coworker, to coordinate a project with your group members or to get connected with technology support staff in OIT.
To get connected to Zimbra chat, all you need to do is sign in via the chat toolbar at the bottom of the web client interface.

Zimbra chat uses the Jabber protocol, enabling you to use your favorite desktop chat client like iChat, Pidgin or Trillian. Keep connected to your Zimbra contacts - without even having the Zimbra web client open! You can even use a chat application to get instant help from the HelpDesk.
