Mailing Instructions

Mail can be sorted into two categories at Washington College: Campus Mail and USPS Mail. How you address and handle each type of mail is important for ensuring that it is delivered and in a timely manner.

Campus Mail

Campus Mail is mail delivered to members of the Washington College community while they are on campus. Campus Mail items can be loose handouts or memos, normal envelopes or inter-departmental mail envelopes (preferred.) Addressing Campus Mail is easy. Simply write the name of the person you hope to reach and the department or box number where they are located. See example below:

If you are sending mass mailings to recipients on campus, mailings should be delivered to Central Service in the following order:

USPS Mail

USPS Mail is any mail item that is delivered to off campus, domestic addresses. USPS mail can include letters and packages. Some USPS mail services have their own labels for attaching address information to items. However, most USPS mail can be addressed as shown below:

Be sure to leave room for postage and any additional items that may need to be affixed at the time of sending.

Other Mail

Mail that does not fit within the two categories listed here may have other guidelines for mailing. Visit the International Mailing or Shipping a Package pages for additional instructions or read the Mail & Print Guide. Parents hoping to reach their sons or daugthers on campus should consult the Tips for Parents page for specific information.
