Computers & Phones

Whether you bring your own devices from home, use on campus technology or purchase new items while you are here - OIT strives to make sure your experience is as seamless as possible.

Remember to bring appropriate power adapters for US power outlets for any gear you bring from your home country.

Computers

The I-House will be the first place for you to send an email, Facebook message, IM or video call back to home. Using your personal accounts from home, you can immediately check in with loved ones upon your arrival. The I-House computers include the Windows Standard Load as well as AOL Instant Messenger, Logitech Vid, and Yahoo! Messenger.

After you arrive at Washington College, you will attend a Technology Orientation session with OIT which will bring you up to speed with our campus technology and guidelines. At this session you will receive a letter that contains your NetID and password. These two items allow you to log in to the Washington College network in labs and with your own computer. This NetID and password also allows you to access many online services like Zimbra email and WebAdvisor. Be sure to pay careful attention to this information.

If you are planning on bringing your own computer to campus or purchasing one when you get here, please make sure you review the Computer Recommendations page.

If you have any questions about bringing your own computer or purchasing a new notebook or desktop, please contact the HelpDesk at 410-778-7777 for personalized advice.
