Leave Plans

Washington College's generous leave policies—including vacation, sick leave, and holidays combined with a number of unpaid leave opportunities are designed to support a balance of work and family responsibilities.

Paid time-off starts accruing bi-weekly when you begin work. Paid time-off for staff members includes:

  • Vacation Leave (Accrued)
  • Exempt - Salaried Staff
    • 4 weeks per year
  • Non-exempt - Hourly Staff
    • Less than 3 years - 2 weeks per year
    • 3 - 6 years - 3 weeks per year
    • Over 6 years - 4 weeks per year
  • Sick Leave (Accrued)
    • 10 days per year
  • Extended Sick Leave
    • Short term after 30 working days if eligible
    • Long term disability after 180 calendar days if eligible
  • Holidays
    • 7 holidays + Christmas Eve through the first working day after New Year's Day
  • Personal Leave (Accrued)
    • 3 days per fiscal year (non-exempt staff only)
  • Jury Duty
  • Bereavement
  • Other Leaves
