Sydney: University of Technology
The Washington College in Australia Program is a Tuition Only Exchange Program at the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS). As one of Australia's largest and most respected universities, UTS has an international focus with worldwide student exchanges and a multicultural student mix of more than 27,000 students. Its three campuses—City, St Leonard's and Kuring-gai—are conveniently located in and around the city center and are easily accessible by public transport. The City campus is located in the heart of Sydney, within walking distance or an easy bus or train ride away from most of Sydney's main attractions. It has an unmatched reputation for keeping up with developments in management and technology by involving industry, business and the professions in shaping and reviewing courses.
UTS is a dynamic part of Sydney, the largest city in Australia and a vibrant and exciting metropolis. Sydney is a fascinating place to live. International students enjoy the easy going lifestyle that Sydney has to offer. UTS attracts study abroad students from all over the world.
Classes will be taught by UTS faculty members. Student advising is done by the International Programs Office (IPO).
All well-qualified second semester sophomores and juniors are eligible to apply for the exchange program with UTS. This program is open to students in all majors. Students should meet the following prerequisites:
- Must have a 3.0 GPA or above.
- Strong academic background.
- Evidence of good character, maturity, and motivation.
- Ability and willingness to adapt to a foreign environment.
The cost of international travel between the United States and Australia, housing costs, meal costs, local transportation while in Australia, health insurance, book costs, student government fees, extracurricular activities, expenses while UTS is not in session, and personal expenses are the responsibility of the student unless other arrangements have been made.
Housing and Board
The cost of housing and meals is the responsibility of the student. UTS students live off campus. The University Housing Service assists students in finding private, temporary or long-term accommodation through its Listing Service and the Accommodation Booking Service that is updated on a daily basis. An International Housing Officer assists newly arrived students to find long-term accommodation.
The University of Technology, Sydney has eleven faculties. The Faculties of Business; Design, Architecture and Building; Education; Engineering; Humanities and Social Sciences; Law; Information Technology; Nursing, Midwifery and Health; Science, the Institute for International Studies and the Institute for Sustainable Futures.
