Disability Services

Students with disabilities are eligible to receive reasonable accommodations to ensure access to programs and services while attending Washington College.

Students with disabilities are eligible to request accessibility accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act (ADA AA) of 2008, and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (as amended). Under the ADA AA 2008, a disability is defined as “a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities, having a record of such impairment, or being regarded as having such impairment.”

Accessibility Accommodation Requests

To request accessibility accommodations, complete the Public Accommodation Request form. Once you have submitted this form, you will be contacted via email with instructions for scheduling an initial meeting to discuss your request(s). During the initial meeting, the Director and student will review the documentation and the requested accommodations.

Incoming freshmen, transfer, or continuing students requesting accessibility accommodations should complete this process before the first day of classes or as soon as possible during the first week of the semester. Some accommodations and auxiliary aids, such as audio textbooks or other assistive technologies, could take longer to arrange so the student should request these as soon as possible.

At the beginning of each subsequent semester a student is enrolled, if they wish to continue receiving accommodations, they must log in to the Accommodate system and complete a Semester Request.
