I am so happy you’re interested in Washington College and all that we have to offer; I look forward to meeting you!
At Washington College you’ll have the opportunity to see and do a wide range of things. Whether you’re interested in history, the humanities, or the sciences, you’ll find a home here. As a history lover, Chestertown is one of my favorite places. Established in 1782, Washington College has seen and made a lot of history. Founded by William Smith, it is the first college to be chartered in the new nation. Our campus is filled with historic academic buildings, where students are engaged in the classroom. George Washington himself, served on the board of visitors and governors and donated 50 guineas to start the ‘College by the Chester’. Here at Washington College, students have the opportunity to explore all facets of a liberal arts education. Come see us and spend a day on campus and experience history first hand!
Interested in History? Check out our unique C.V. Starr Center for the Study of the American Experience. The Starr Center provides students opportunities for summer fellowships, road trips, on-campus opportunities, and StoryQuest. Whether it is taking a trip to Colonial Williamsburg or obtaining a full-time summer job at the National Archives, the C.V. Starr Center is the place to go!
