Your First Year

Shane Benz

Class of 2016
Major/Minor: Political Science and Economics

Hometown: Pennsburg, Pennsylvania

High School: Upper Perkiomen H.S.

Why did you choose your major? I have a strong passion for public service and political engagement, and believe that active citizenship is essential to the success of our nation.

A professor/class at WAC that has impacted you and why: Professor Prud’homme: This brilliant man is why I accepted to Washington College, and was able to travel Rome and the Italian countryside last summer.

Favorite Chestertown Hangout: Play it Again Sam’s

Favorite way to procrastinate: The internet, of course.

Favorite Quote: “Fix reason firmly in her seat, and call to her tribunal every fact, every opinion. Question with boldness even the existence of a God; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason, than that of blindfolded fear.”–Thomas Jefferson
