C.V. Starr Center for the

Study of the American Experience

Rachel Brown

Class of 2016

A second-year student at Washington College, Rachel is a Presidential Fellow working toward a double-major in Hispanic Studies and Anthropology, with a minor in Creative Writing. Although Rachel and her family now live in Wilmington, Delaware, she was born and raised in Maryland, and is very thrilled to once again be living in the state with the prettiest flag.

Rachel joined the Starr Center as a Student Associate in the fall of 2013, and is enjoying her work as part of the Oral History project team. On campus, she serves as president of the Spanish and Portuguese Clubs, and is also a committee member of the History Society. Rachel hopes to participate in the Anthropology Department’s upcoming Cultures of the Southwest summer seminar, and plans on studying abroad in Ecuador in the fall of 2014. After graduation, Rachel is interested in exploring several career options, chief among them being a literary translator or interpreter, especially in an international context for a non-profit organization.
