Sam Stanton

Independent GIS Contractor

Sam works periodically with the Washington College GIS program as a part time independent contractor.  Sam works full time as a GIS Specialist for Queen Anne’s County, Maryland where he is responsible for maintaining a multitude of GIS data layers in addition to taking care of mapping and spatial analysis needs of all county departments.  An Eastern Shore native with a background in agriculture, Sam earned his B.S. in Agricultural Science from The University of Maryland College Park.  He was previously employed by the Dorchester Soil Conservation District where he worked cooperatively with the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service and the Maryland Department of Agriculture utilizing GIS technology to help farmers and landowners plan best management practices.  In addition, Sam works for the USDA Farm Service Agency in Queen Anne’s County on an as needed basis, where he utilizes GPS technology to map best management practices.  Sam’s work with the GIS program has included project management for several GPS mapping projects for the Town of Easton, Maryland.
