What do you do for a campus job or work study?
I am a Peer Mentor Leader. While I’m home on breaks, I work at my local Wawa.
What are you up to this summer? And what are you most looking forward to?
This summer I am participating in the National Science Foundation Research Experience for Undergraduates in Neuroscience at the University of Missouri. I am assisting in a study that looks at the effects of paced breathing on cognition. While I’m here, I also get to observe new and interesting research in the field of neuroscience (namely autism research) that is being conducted by the lab I’m working with. I’m also taking a class in Computational Neuroscience and a seminar about how to get into and be prepared for graduate school. I’m most looking forward to seeing how our study comes out and presenting a poster at the end of the summer on my research. I’m also excited to explore Columbia, Missouri, meet undergraduates who have the same academic and career goals as me, and learn from professors and graduate students!
Why did you choose your major?
I chose my major because I’ve always been really interested in psychology and the mind, but I’m especially interested in what it is about a person’s biology that may cause them to think or behave in the way they do.
What is your favorite Ctown hangout?
My favorite Ctown hangout is a tie between the farmer’s market on Saturday mornings and the Bookplate. With both, every time you go is a new experience and you’re never quite sure what you’ll find!
