John Nostrant

Class of 1986

John was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2002. His citation is below:

John Nostrant matriculated to Washington College from C. W. Baker High School, Baldwinsville, NY, where he had been an outstanding football, basketball and lacrosse player. Although he opted to focus solely on lacrosse in college, his ability in both football and basketball would have allowed him to be successful on a higher level of play.

John was an outstanding midfielder for four years for the Sho’men. Yet as good a player as he was, it was his leadership that was so valuable to the teams that played in three of four NCAA Division III national championship games. His acknowledgement of what should take place on the field, especially during very competitive games, and his ability to motivate and guide his teammates, was an immeasurable talent.

John was selected to the NCAA Division III All-American Squad, three times on the Second Team. During each of his four years here, Washington College defeated archrival Salisbury. During his junior year, the team defeated both Navy and Hobart. He was selected by his teammates for the Most Valuable Player Award during his senior year.

His professional accomplishments include being an assistant coach to Coach Terry Corcoran at Washington College for three years, playing professional outdoor lacrosse for the Baltimore Tribe and for the Baltimore Thunders, and playing professional indoor lacrosse with the Philadelphia Wings. Playing within the Major Lacrosse League for six years, he was selected to the All-Professional Team in two years and played on three world championship teams with the Philadelphia Wings. His coaching accomplishments include two years with the Philadelphia Wings as an assistant coach, and head coach of the Philadelphia Major League Lacrosse Franchise. He is presently employed by the Haverford School in Philadelphia as a teacher, director of athletics, head lacrosse coach and assistant football and basketball coach. His Haverford School lacrosse teams have enjoyed more than 150 wins during his 11-year coaching tenure.

Washington College considers it an honor and privilege to induct John Nostrant into its Athletic Hall of Fame on this 5th day of October, 2002.
