Howard Griffin
Howard was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame in 1982. His citation is copied below:
Howard F. “Buck” Griffin was one of the top right-handed pitchers in Washington College baseball history.
He was the hurling mainstay of J. Thomas Kibler’s teams of the 1928-30 period. He possessed a “hopping” fastball, a wicked breaking curve ball and great control.
He signed a Boston Red Sox contract professional, and pitched in the old Eastern Shore League and the Blue Ridge League with Hagerstown.
He enjoyed a long and distinguished career as a teacher and baseball coach at Catonsville High School and Catonsville Community College.
