Lee is a member of the Athletic Hall of Fame. His citation is copied below:
Lee Martin Curry shined year-round on the soccer field in the fall and on the lacrosse field in the spring.
A strong, steady, and dependable lacrosse player for Coach Don Kelly, Curry excelled at the game of defense, and earned All-American honors in three years’ running–honorable mention in 1959, third team honors in 1960, and second team honors in 1961. And this was when honorable mention really meant something– the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association only selected one All-American team.
In his senior year, with Curry as co-captain, the lacrosse team won eight of ten games and topped the Middle Atlantic division. He had three assists from his defensive position.
As a soccer fullback, he was co-captain of the team that finished second in the Mason-Dixon Conference, and he brought home All-South honors.
Curry served as an educator, coach, and athletic director at Severn School and the Key School for more than 23 years. In 1968, Curry was named High School Lacrosse Coach of the Year, and in 1983, Anne Arundel County honored him for his contributions and service to lacrosse. He was inducted into the Severn School’s Athletic Hall of Fame in 1985.
