Harry Rhodes ’35
A former superintendent of schools for Queen Anne’s County, Dr. Harry Rhodes retired from his career in education after serving as dean of faculty at Anne Arundel Community College. But at age 97, Rhodes remains a loyal supporter of his alma mater.
What compels him to give back? Rhodes points to his history—he is the son of two Washington College graduates—as well as the future.
“I remember the days when there was nothing on campus but William Smith Hall, the gym and a few dormitories,” says Rhodes. “But we had good teachers who engaged us in serious studies. My education did a lot to formulate my life. Times are different now but without an education you’re in bad shape.”
