What do you do for a campus job or work study?
I work for Health Services and I love my job! Vickie and the nurses take such great care of all of the students, so I try to help them out as much as possible so they can focus on more important things, like their patients!
How has WC changed your life? Or, what does WC mean to you?
Attending Washington College has been the best decision of my life. I cannot imagine going to college anywhere else. I have made best friends here, been challenged and stimulated academically, and made and will continue to make wonderful memories. It is hard to picture a place more beautiful, with more welcoming and remarkable people, with more caring and encouraging faculty, than WAC. Washington College has become my home and my friends have become my family, and I cannot wait to share this experience with the new freshmen.
What so far has been your favorite tradition or memory at WC?
My favorite tradition is Birthday Ball. Every year, Washington College celebrates George Washington’s birthday with a huge dance! You can feel the excitement all around campus for days, all leading up to the big night. Girls put on their best dresses, guys clean up (and wear ties!), and the whole campus dances the night away in the JFC, which has been fabulously decorated to represent a theme that the campus voted on. This is an event that draws both parents and alumni to Chestertown, giving everyone with a connection to WAC a chance to celebrate George’s birthday together.
Why did you choose your major?
I chose my major because I have always been very interested in biology and it seemed like the perfect major to prepare me for Dental School. I took AP Biology in high school as well as some other electives that made me very excited to study the sciences in college. Now, after taking a multitude of both biology and chemistry courses, I can say that I am still excited to continue studying the sciences for the remainder of my time at WAC. The professors really encourage their students to challenge themselves and always have their doors open for students to come and talk to them. One of the main reasons I initially chose to attend Washington College was because of how impressed I was by the Pre-Med Committee. I knew this was the perfect place to cultivate my love of science and to ready myself for the DAT’s and ultimately dental school.
