Q&A
Hometown? Baltimore, MD
High School? Mount de Sales Academy
What are you up to this summer? I am interning at two different radio stations in Baltimore City: 98Rock and WYPR. At 98Rock, I will be working mostly in the promotions department, and at WYPR, I am a creative intern for “The Signal,” which is a daily show that focuses on the Maryland arts scene. I am very excited to explore my hometown through these two jobs and hope to see as many Orioles games as possible!
Tell us about your study abroad experience. In Fall 2012 I studied abroad in England at Royal Holloway University of London. During that time I was able to travel to Scotland, Paris, and The Netherlands. One of my favorite things about living overseas was the massive English breakfast: eggs, ham, sausage, potatoes, mushrooms, tomatoes, baked beans, toast, and tea!!
Favorite Chestertown hangout? Plaza Tapatia, the local Mexican restaurant. All-you-can-eat chips and salsa and solid margaritas. Plus they make you wear a huge sombrero if it’s your birthday!
Acting the Part:
Through the Cater Society of Junior Fellows, Andrea traveled to Maroua, Cameroon to develop and teach a camp for girls. Andrea’s camp was designed to encourage self-awareness, assertiveness, and creativity in girls in a society where women are typically disrespected.
