Sherri Foster

Class of 1997
Major/Minor
English

Sherri Foster joined the English Department as a part-time faculty member in 2009, but she is no stranger to Washington College, having graduated in 1997 with Departmental Honors in English and Secondary Education.

She spent the next seven years teaching high school English in Anne Arundel County before moving to England in 2005 to complete a Master of Studies in Literature/Women’s Studies at the University of Oxford. Following that, she transferred to the University of Sussex, where she is currently completing a D.Phil in Literary/Cultural Studies. Her research interests include British Modernism (with a special interest in Virginia Woolf), Disability Studies, cultural constructions and representations of ‘othered’ bodies, Queer Theory, life writing, Medical Humanities, and contemporary fiction.

Outside of the classroom, she enjoys photography and traveling. She spends her summers in England and/or Scotland.

Sherri is part of our cadre of Washington Alumni Admissions Volunteers.
