Jay Marchant

Class of 1963

Jay Marchant ‘63 served two terms as a member of the BVG and is a past Chair of the Alumni Board; he previously served as a member of the Visiting Committee and as a Class Agent. Currently, Jay remains involved in the work of the Alumni Board by chairing the Book Award sub committee of the Admissions & Student Recruitment Committee. As a student, Jay was a math major, active on Student Government Association and a member of the track team and the cross country team.

Jay is the Founder and President of About Your Benefits, Inc., a leading communication service provider to benefit consultants, brokers, and TPAs throughout the U.S. Prior to this, Jay was a Principal at Mercer, Inc., a subsidiary of Marsh and McLennan. While at Mercer, Jay headed the communication consulting practice in New York and Connecticut offices and directed Mercer’s National Communication Resource Center in Illinois. Throughout his career he has consulted with major employers in the U.S. and Europe on the application of communication technologies to their organizational communication needs. Jay has pioneered numerous employee self-service techniques for human resources and employee benefits administration. He has been a frequent speaker at programs of the Conference Board, the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans, IHRIM, and Management Centre Europe.

Since graduating from college, Jay has lived in Maryland, the UK, Connecticut and Illinois. Upon retiring from Mercer in 1999, Jay and his wife Kai returned to the Eastern Shore and now live on the Wye River near Queenstown.
