Edward Nordberg ‘82
Mr. Nordberg is the former Chairman of the Board of Visitors and Governors and has been a Board member since 2003.
Mr. Nordberg received an M.B.A. from Loyola College in 1985 and a J.D. from Georgetown University in 1989. Formerly an attorney with the Washington, DC, firm of Williams & Connolly, he serves as Chief Executive Officer of Wakefield Capital Management, Inc., a healthcare real estate investment firm based in Chevy Chase, Maryland. Previously, Mr. Nordberg served as Chief Executive Officer of Medical Office Properties, Inc., a real estate investment trust, that invested in healthcare-related real estate throughout the United States, prior to its sale to CNL Retirement Properties, Inc. in April of 2004. In 1993, Mr. Nordberg co-founded HealthCare Financial Partners, Inc., a commercial finance company focused on the health care industry, and served as Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Director HCF until its sale to Heller Financial, Inc. in July of 1999.
During his career at Washington College, Mr. Nordberg was member of the lacrosse team and President of the Senior Class. He is the former Chairman of Rebuilding Together (formerly Christmas in April USA); the nation’s largest volunteer organization preserving and revitalizing low-income houses and communities, and currently serves as the Chair of The Board of Visitors and Governors of Washington College, and on the boards of St. Patrick’s Episcopal Day School and the U.S. Lacrosse Foundation. He has made leadership gifts to the lacrosse endowment project, the John Toll Science Center, Roy Kirby Stadium, the Gibson Center for the Arts, and endowed a scholarship that honors his grandmother, Helen Adams.
Mr. Nordberg and his wife, Carolyn, and children, Charlotte and Trey, reside in Chevy Chase and Easton, Maryland.
