Kay works to publicize College events and news by writing and editing press releases, pitching stories, and promoting campus experts as media sources. She is the point person for reporters, editors and producers who want information, interviews and images.
She also works on the campus Emergency Operations Group to ensure effective communications during crises, updates WC info for the increasing number of college guides and (sigh) rankings, and helps out as needed on other projects in College Relations & Marketing.
A native of Montgomery, Ala., Kay is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Randolph-Macon Woman’s College (now Randolph College) in Lynchburg, Va. and holds a master’s in journalism from the University of Missouri. She started her career at the weekly Bar Harbor Timeson Maine’s Mount Desert Island, later worked for Washingtonian and Baltimore magazines, and then served a decade as the founding editor of Baltimore-based STYLE Magazine.
