Georgina Bliss

Career Coach

Georgina joined the Career Development staff in February 2017. Her primary responsibility as Career Coach is to form a partnership through one-on-one appointments with students. Georgina encourages students to define and articulate their goals and strengths, develop a toolbox of job support materials such as a resume, cover-letter, and LinkedIn Profile and manage their job processes. Her responsibilities also include Non-Profit Targeted Career Awareness Program Advisor, Career Ambassadors, classroom presentations and visits, program research and development, and conducting workshops. Georgina’s efforts assist us in our goal for appointments and student engagement and that student have the tools for career success.

 

Georgina spent the last 30 years as a brand marketing manager-strategist working for New York-based prestige consumer product industry and managing a family firm specializing in retail project management. She has worked for global multi-nationals such as Sanofi Beaute, Guerlain, Estee Lauder, International - Aramis, and Davidoff of Geneva managing marketing/client relations for 100s of products which include Van Cleef & Arpels, Tuscany, Zino, Isadora Story and more recently Apple, Hennes & Mauritz, Zara, Joe&The Juice, and Sur La Table. Fluent in French, she has taught francophone cultural and language programs to business colleagues, children, and adults. Georgina is passionate about Soft Skills Development. She owns the Chestertown etiquette school and serves on the UMMD Extension Soft Skills Forum which develops programs to cultivate these important skills, heavily desired by employers, in youth. 

 

Georgina is a graduate from the University of Vermont where she completed a double major in French and Political Science with Honors and obtained a Professional Certificate in Digital Marketing in 2016. Georgina recently completed the Gallup Accelerated StrengthsFinder Coaching Course and hopes to be certified in the coming months.
