PRESERVING YOUR FAMILY TREASURES & HEIRLOOMS

Do you have interesting old treasures stashed away in the basement, closet or attic? Wondering what to do with them? Get them out and bring them to class! Come learn how to save memories and preserve your family history. This course will cover the basics in archival preservation of special collections, specifically focusing on family heirlooms. Students are encouraged to bring items to class to learn how to preserve them properly.
HEATHER CALLOWAY, EdD is the Archivist & Special Collections Librarian and an Assistant Professor at Washington College. Prior to this position, she served as Museum Curator and Managing Director of Digital & Social Media for 14 years with the headquarters of the Scottish Rite Freemasons in Washington DC. She earned her doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania and her passion is preserving fraternal and religious ephemera.
