From 1973-1981, Mr. Minch was half of a 2-man design/build team concentrating on solar homes, using OVE framing, trombe and mass walls, and solar greenhouses.
Mr Minch was then the founder of Energy Services Group in 1981. ESG specializes in residential energy conservation, using the Princeton House Doctor Approach of total systems analysis and cost-effective repair. They offer programs that address problems in existing homes, in new homes, and in multi-family and light commercial buildings. To date ESG has completed over 28,000 existing home energy retrofits and worked in over 40,000 new homes under construction in 5 states. They have delivered 16,000 new homes to the EPA Energy Star for New Homes program.
Mr Minch has trained builders, HVAC contractors, and insulators, in the science of energy efficiency. He has also trained builders and building officials statewide in Maryland and Delaware on the 2006, 2009, and 2012 IECC state energy code. Mr. Minch has worked closely with installers of high efficiency heating and cooling equipment and rooftop solar panels in order to increase the already high efficiency of houses that he worked in.
For over 40 years, Mr. Minch has been at the leading edge of research and implementation in home energy efficiency. He also enjoys making guitars and boating on the Chester River with his 3 grandkids.
He was elected to the WC-ALL Council in May 2016
