2012 Waterfront Festival - Cardboard Boat Regatta
The 6th annual Cardboard Boat Regatta at Washington College’s Waterfront Festival attracts students, faculty and staff, and locals alike. With $650 in prizes to the winning boats, some competitors take the regatta pretty seriously. Boats may only be constructed from corrugated cardboard, water soluble paint, glue, and caulk.
Join us for a behind the scenes glimpse of the making of “Chessie” (the Chesapeake Bay’s version of mythical Loch Ness Monster), led by Brian Palmer, Director of Digital Media Services at Washington College. Then, watch the 15 competitors make their way to the starting line (or sink trying), and battle for the finish line.
The Waterfront Festival is hosted each year by Center for Environment and Society at Washington College. For more information about CES, visit them on line at http://ces.washcoll.edu
