CHESTERTOWN, MD—Washington College invites the public to kick off the Mardi Gras season on campus Thursday, February 27 from 7 to 9:30 p.m. with Cajun music, dancing and cuisine. The event will begin with two-step lessons at 7 p.m. in the Egg, ground floor of Hodson Hall Commons, and will continue with live music by the Howlin’ Mudbugs from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.
The Howlin’ Mudbugs are acoustic folk and roots-rock musicians with New Orlean’s Cajun, Zydeco and Blues influences. They perform as a duo or a trio. Appearing at Washington College will be Kraig Greff on accordion and vocals and Chris Huntington on guitar and vocals. Each of these road-seasoned member hosts an impressive and diverse musical/performance resume. Greff has toured with Barry White, Della Reese, Joe Williams and Diana Ross, and is a 2008 Emmy award recipient. Huntington is a Grammy nominated artist who has recorded and toured with the Temptations and Leroy Thomas.
The event is sponsored by the French Club, Pi Delta Phi, and the C.V. Starr Center for the Study of the American Experience. It is free and open to the public.
