Campus Republicans Host Libertarian Author
Location: Decker Theater
CHESTERTOWN, MD—The Washington College Republican Club will host a talk by libertarian author and historian Thomas E. Woods on Friday, February 7, at 3:30 p.m. in Decker Theatre on the College campus.
Free and open to the public, the talk will be based largely on Woods’ most recent book, Rollback: Repealing Big Government Before the Coming Fiscal Collapse (2011). He will share his thesis that contemporary governmental policies have set the stage for today’s youth to be the first generation in American memory to inherit lower standards of health, wealth, and opportunity from their parents. According to a publisher’s description of Rollback on Amazon: “Thanks to decades of politicians playing kick the can down the road, we and our children are facing economic Armageddon. But this crisis could help us see government for what it really is—an institution that has seized our wealth and taught our children to honor it as the source of all progress.”
A book signing will follow outside Decker Theatre, in the Underwood Lobby of the Gibson Center for the Arts.
Tom Woods has written eleven books about history and politics, including the New-York Times best sellers The Politically Incorrect Guide to American History (2004) and Meltdown, his 2009 analysis of the global financial crisis. He is a Senior Fellow at the Ludwig von Mises Institute, an Auburn, Ala.-based center dedicated to libertarian principles and the works of the Austrian School of economics. He also founded LibertyClassroom, a subscription service for lecture podcasts on history and economics, and hosts the online “Tom Woods Show,” where, he says, he “smacks down government propaganda” each weekday.
Tom Woods has been a guest of numerous other radio shows—including those hosted by Dennis Miller, Michael Reagan, Dennis Prager and G. Gordon Liddy Show—and has appeared on a number of television programs.
