Matt Bai is the chief political correspondent for the New York Times Magazine, where he covered both the 2004 and 2008 presidential campaigns. He also writes the “Political Times” online column for the Times. Richard Ben Cramer is the author of What It Takes: The Way to the White House, which has been widely acclaimed as one of the all-time best books on American electoral politics; Politico recently called it “the greatest modern presidential campaign book.” Cramer, who is also the author of five other books, won the Pulitzer Prize for International Reporting in 1979.
