The Student Environmental Alliance at Washington College teamed up with the Sassafras River Association to protest the proposed Rubble Dump for the headwaters of the Sassafras River. The Rubble Dump was not on the agenda for this meeting, but the protest was to ensure that this issue is not forgotten or pushed aside. The Sassafras River Association and concerned residents have been working tirelessly to fight this proposition and plan to continue to do so until it is resolved. -

Strawberry Bush Forever
The fate of an overgrown Euonymus americanus bush, which had been considered for removal, inspired campus-wide conservationist cheer as well as the first issue of The Delinquent: an impromptu student publication that successfully called for a rally to express love for the bush.
When news that the bush had been considered for removal reached Washington College community members, a sign immediately was posted in support of the spindle tree, also known as a strawberry bush.
