For the first time since 2002, #12 Washington College defeats #5 Salisbury as WC wins War on the Shore by a 7-6 score. Hunter Nowicki scored game-winner with 1:03 left in the fourth quarter to lift the Shoremen to their first home win over the Sea Gulls since 1990. This is the first time the team won the Charles B. Clark Cup since it was first presented in 2004.

The Ichthyology class at Washington College studies the major groups of fish as well as systematics, physiology, behavior, ecology, and evolution of fish. Student spend the first half of semester getting acquainted with the fish collection here at Washington College. Dr. Martin Connaughton brought his students to the Smithsonian Natural Science Support Center, where they house millions of specimens and collections of fish, to test their fish knowledge.

“Kickin’ it with Kent County,” a field day for local fifth graders, is an initiative started by the Social Entrepreneurship Practicum class in spring 2012. The goal is to promote a healthy and active lifestyle among the fifth graders of Kent County while building camaraderie among the five Kent County elementary schools. Additionally, the day on campus served to introduce the “Class of 2023” to a college campus and to encourage the young students to start thinking about college. Prior to the field day kick off, Kent on the Move provided a wonderful introduction to the day’s activities. Throughout the day, students participated in eight field day stations ranging from tests of physical strength to team building activities to an oral health station. Washington College looks forward to hosting the event year after year!
