he C.V. Starr Center and the Department of Drama had the honor of hosting legendary musical theatre composer John Kander, librettist David Thompson and actor Forrest McClendon on the stage of Decker Theatre to discuss their recent musical, The Scottsboro Boys.Forrest McClendon conducted a Master Class for Drama majors in the afternoon. This session, part lecture, part question and answer, provided students insight into the life of a working actor, from the rigors of auditions to the process of creating a character. In the early evening, a lively onstage discussion was lead by Professor Michele Volansky and included a song performed by Mr. McClendon, accompanied by Stef Scaggiari. The evening concluded with a dinner in the Hynson Study Lounge where students had the opportunity to interact with the special guests.
