Six seniors from Washington College participated in the World Model United Nations, held in this spring at the Hague, Netherlands. Five of the students represented Tanzania in three different committees (SPECPOL, WHO and DISEC) and one student represented Chinese propagandist Chen Boda in a simulation of the Chinese Politburo from 1969. Students spent the week debating, writing draft resolutions and making allies, enemies and regional blocs (but only in committee. Everyone was very friendly once session closed for the day).
A delegation of Washington College students traveled to New Haven, Connecticut to attend the Security Council Simulation at Yale University to discuss foreign policy issues in terms of international law and crisis resolution in committees of the Security Council and a wide range of other modeled simulations.
Director of International Studies, Dr. Tahir Shad and 12 delegates, Anna Burress, Anthony Pipolo, Ashley Carol-Fingerhut, Becky Castellucci, Chris Cronin, Cortnee Doll, Daniel Hudson, Eli Banghart, Oliver Hegglin, Rebecca Akdeniz and Zac Pandl traveled on Amtrak from Wilmington, DE to Montreal, Quebec.
