Sponsored by Artworks, the Washington College Service Council and the Office of Student Development, the second annual Empty Bowls benefit dinner raised over $2,000 for the Kent County Food Pantry. The dinner marks one event in an international grassroots effort to fight hunger by raising money and awareness about hunger and food insecurity. The basic premise, to raise money by hosting a simple meal, is adapted by event sponsors based on the unique needs in their community.
The Student Environmental Alliance spent a weekend in the woods volunteering at Camp Tockwogh, a nonprofit summer program geared to help children understand their ecological relationship with the world.
