The undergraduate students in Dr. Amick’s laboratory are designing new palladium-catalyzed reactions for organic synthesis. The new reactions they design will be employed to synthesize large flat and bowl-shaped molecules, which can be used in nanotechnology, organic electronics, and organic photovoltaics (solar cells).
As the finale to the Coal Summit, which opened with a screening of On Coal River and a documentary workshop, the campus community reconvened at the Rose O’Neill Literary House for a reading by journalist Jeff Biggers, author of Reckoning at Eagle Creek: The Secret legacy of Coal in the Heartland.
