Students, faculty, and staff involved in Habitat for Humanity returned to the Eastern Shore of Virginia—where they spent the previous Fall Break—for a summer workday.
A cohort of students, faculty, and staff of Habitat for Humanity spent a day refurbishing the playground at St. Martin’s House in Ridgely. The work included reconstructing the roof on an old shed and sprucing up a playhouse for small children.
Thirty-five members of the Washington College community spent their spring break week building a house in Columbus, GA, as part of Habitat for Humanity’s Collegiate Challenge Program in a partnership with NeighborWorks Columbus. This was the College program’s 13th alternative Spring Break trip, and 31 students (roughly 2% of the student body), three staff members, and one faculty member made the journey, as the largest Collegiate Challenge team fielded by Washington College yet.
Fifty-five pairs of red shoes were worn by men at Washington College for “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes,” the international men’s march to stop rape, sexual assault, and gender violence.

Washington College sophomore Ryan Bailey qualified for the Carl Van Duyne Trophy - the MAISA Men’s Singles Championship - for the second consecutive year by finishing fourth of 18 sailors at the MAISA Laser Qualifier, hosted by the U.S. Naval Academy, this weekend. The Washington College sailing team also finished 14th of 18 teams at the St. Mary’s Intersectional and 18th of 19 teams at the Hood Trophy, hosted by Tufts, this weekend.
