UNFORTUNATELY DUE TO A RAINY AND SNOWY FORECAST FOR SUNDAY, ANDY’S BURGER NIGHT HAS BEEN CANCELLED. WE ARE SORRY FOR THE INCONVENIENCE. WE HOPE YOU WILL JOIN US FOR NEXT YEAR’S BURGER NIGHT.
CHESTERTOWN, MD—Cold weather does not mean you have to wait months eat locally! On Sunday, February 9, meat from local producers Cedar Run Farm, Crow Farm, St. Brigid’s Farm, and SB Bison will be showcased at the fourth annual “Andy’s Burger Night” from 1 to 4 p.m. at Unity Church Hill Nursery on Rt. 213 just outside of Church Hill. The event, created to promote locally produced food items, is inspired by the Burger Nights that were so popular at Andy’s, the beloved tavern that operated on High Street for two decades.
Local chefs Robbie Jester (Piccolino Toscana, Wilmington) and Jeff Carroll (Fish Whistle) will be grilling sliders, with assistance from Brooks Tavern sous chef Jay Reed, and Chef Sabrina Sexton (of NYC and Chestertown) will be cooking up dishes created with vegetables from Colchester Farm, Boxer’s Rest Farm and Priapi Gardens, greens courtesy of Chesapeake Greens. Various flavors of Eve’s Cheese and Chapel’s County Creamery will also be on offer.
“People are always amazed at how much food is available locally even in the dead of winter,” says Tara Holste, a co-organizer of the event. “Plus it’s great fun to taste the difference in the meats.” There is limited indoor seating, so come prepared with gloves and scarves. A fire pit, hot cider from Lockbriar Farm and hot chocolate from Nice Farms Creamery will help warm guests at this favorite winter event. The growers will be on hand to talk about their farms and products. In addition, guests may purchase local beer and wine from 16 Mile Brewery and Crow Farm & Vineyard. In the spirit of being eco-friendly, diners are asked to bring their own plates, utensils, and cloth napkins.
This event traditionally sells out - people are advised to purchase tickets early! Tickets are priced at $25 each (children under 12 free) and $40 per couple. They are available at Unity Church Hill Nursery, Bookplate in Chestertown, or online at http://andys-ctown.com. Space is limited. There will be no tickets available at the door. Tickets will include a seating time of 1 or 2 p.m., though patrons are encouraged to come early and stay for the entire event. Proceeds will benefit the Locavore Lit Fest, which returns to Chestertown March 27- 30, 2014. For more information call 410-810-7162 or email email@example.com.
