Matthew Murray, WC ‘95, spent six years in China at the US Consulate in Shanghai and US Embassy in Beijing (2005-11), and is a graduate of the Foreign Service Institute’s two-year Mandarin language training program. In addition, he has served in US embassies in Tanzania and India as well as in Washington, DC. He has been awarded three Superior Honor Awards by the Department of State for his work on US-China relations and on US economic relations with Asia. He also has received several Meritorious Honor Awards, including for his trade promotion efforts in support of the African Growth and Opportunity Act during his tenure in East Africa. He earned master’s degrees from the US Army War College and the University of Pittsburgh. Matt and his wife, Sharla (also WC ‘95), have three sons – Joshua, Noah, and Daniel.
