Taylor J. Frey is the President-elect of the Washington College Student Government Association. He has served the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation as a Nonprofit Management Intern, worked as a Finance Intern on Nathan Shinagawa’s 2012 Congressional Campaign, and worked to strengthen small companies as a Branding and Marketing Consultant. He is pursuing his Bachelors of Arts in Political Science and American Studies with a minor in Drama.
C.V. Starr Center for the Study of the American Experience : (Present) As the Washington Book Prize Associate and Student Director of the Revolutionary College Project I assist with the coordination of the largest Founding-Era book prize in the United States, and directly oversee a research, writing, and marketing initiative of the Center.
The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation: (2015) As a Nonprofit Management Intern I examined how large nonprofit organizations can be led successfully in an era of rapid financial, technological, cultural change. I reported to the Interim Vice President for Historical Research and Interpretation and worked to advance Foundation initiatives including the Slavery and Remembrance Project - a partnership with UNESCO.
Global Leadership ExChange Program: (2014) I completed courses and workshops on cross-cultural leadership, peace and conflict, and social innovation in Rome, Italy through Charles University in Prague. During this program I lived and studied alongside emerging leaders from over ten diverse countries.
Branding and Marketing Consulting: (2013-2014) With the owners of a mid-scale winery in the Finger Lakes region of New York State I created a web-store, worked with outside companies to develop an apparel brand, trained employees on the sales staff, and set up the basic financial infrastructure needed to expand their customer base.
The Committee to Elect Nathan Shinagawa: (2012) As a Congressional Campaign Finance Intern I spent ten months assisting the candidate and his Finance Director in a competitive race for the Democratic nomination and competitive general election. Throughout this process I created and researched donor lists, assisted in training new interns, and staffed the candidate during call time.
National Youth Leadership Forum Scholar: (2013) I studied American leadership, diplomacy, intelligence, and defense in Washington, D.C. with young leaders from across the country.
Civil Air Patrol, United States Air Force Auxiliary: (2012) As Cadet Commander for the Ithaca Composite Squadron I taught a leadership curriculum, managed cadet leadership, planned the long-term goals of the squadron, and mentored cadets of all backgrounds.
Owner and Founder of TJCS: (2008 – 2014) I founded and managed a company that contracted with two artists in New York and Vermont. I worked with contacts in the manufacturing industry to develop art-based products my company could sell at reduced whole-sale prices in bulk quantities.
Collegiate Leadership Roles
Student Government Association: I currently serve as a representative to the Faculty First Year Task Force of the Curriculum Committee, the Faculty Diversity Committee, and the Honor Board. As a Senator I chair the Organizations committee and was named a “Senator of the Year” in the spring of 2014.
Habitat for Humanity: As Director of Communications & Outreach for Washington College Habitat for Humanity I oversee all publicity efforts, coordination with alumni, and certain aspects of our community relations.
Encouraging Respect of Sexuality Alliance: As an Executive Board member I manage all our finances and many aspects of alumni relations initiatives.
History Society: I serve the society as a Treasurer.
