Wendy Mitman Clarke
Wendy’s primary job is to tell Washington College’s stories about the students, alumni, and faculty who make the College community so special. To that end, she follows and writes on as many topics, both on and off campus, as she can find. She also assists with photography and videography.
She holds a BA in English from the University of Vermont, where she graduated with highest honors. After four years as a staff writer with The Associated Press in its Northern New England bureau in Concord, N.H., she returned to the Chesapeake where she had grown up sailing with her parents and her best buddy, a springer spaniel. She was executive editor of Chesapeake Bay Magazine for six years and has a thorough knowledge of the culture, history, and ecology of the Bay. Her book Window on the Chesapeake: The Bay, Its People and Places, was published in 2003 by The Mariners’ Museum and Howell Press. She’s studying for her master’s degree in English at WC, with a projected graduation date of spring 2016. She spends as much time as possible on the water, wherever she can find it.
