Rural communities are under increasing pressure from development as more and more people migrate from urban areas to rural areas. Often local citizens and leaders do not realize what form or shape some of this development will take, or the impact that new development will have on their local community, until the development is completed.
The GIS Program is using advanced 3D visualization techniques to permit local citizens and local leaders to visualize what these new developments will actually look like. Ideally, our efforts will be geared at communities that are in the initial stages of developing village master plans. The application of these advanced techniques will allow them to visualize what their community will look like if fully built out. By giving local citizens and leaders access to visualization, we are giving them the tools they need to shape their future communities.
