Smaa is majoring in biology with a chemistry minor and conducting the pre-med program. Her ultimate goal is to build a hospital in Egypt that would provide medical care to individuals who otherwise would not have access. She enjoys reading about international issues.

Heather is a senior at Washington College majoring in Environmental Studies, with a minor in Earth and Planetary Science. This is her 4th year working in the lab and 2nd year working over the summer. She is currently part of the crime mapping team.

Thomas is a senior from Chestertown, MD majoring in Physics and minoring in Economics. He is the President and founder of the Physics Club, works with Habitat for Humanity, and is part of the Omicron Phi chapter of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity.. This is his second year working for GIS. Thomas is working with Luis Machado on the Easton Stormwater project, using a GPS system built by Topcon along with ArcGIS to map the storm drain system in the Tanyard watershed of Easton.

Luis is currently a senior at WC double majoring in Philosophy and Anthropology. He is a 4 year international student from Venezuela. He is curious about the application of GIS in studying human relations.

Jessica is a senior majoring in Computer Science. She is webmaster for the college's Equestrian Team and Trap and Skeet Club, as well as treasurer for the Trap and Skeet club, and she plays on the Women's Rugby club team. In the lab she has been working with Unity to create a virtual world. Jessica is working on the ECI Project. She and her team are building a 3D Model of the Eastern Correctional Institution in Google SketchUp, adding textures in Autodesk 3DS Max, and importing the model into Unity to create a virtual version of the prison. This will be a visual way for the prison guards to organize and access important information about the prison.

Caitlyn is a junior at Washington College and is from Lancaster, PA. She is majoring in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. She hopes to attend Medical School after college to study Oncology. At WAC, she is the Vice-President I of her sorority, Zeta Tau Alpha, a Peer Mentor, a co-founder of Relay for Life, and the Vice-President of College Republicans.

Corey plans on majoring in computer science with a possible interest in business. He has always been fascinated with computer and has worked with Java, computer hardware, and computer networks. He is your go to guy if your computer has a problem. Corey also likes to play video games, listen to music, and go anywhere where the fun is at. He plans on joining SIFE and possibly participating in safe ride.

Michael Baker is a junior majoring in physics who just transferred this year from CCBC Catonsville in Baltimore. He is originally from Boise, Idaho. He loves the outdoors, especially rock and mountain climbing. He also plays on the lacrosse team here at WC.

Tara Barber is a junior at Washington College. She's from Lothian, Maryland and she is currently an Anthropology major. She likes working, taking care of her kitten, travel, and art. She was interested in GIS because she likes Google Earth and historic towns and homes like Chestertown. She has also worked in the library, been involved with SGA, Zumba, and Anthropology club.

Devin plans on majoring in Psychology with a minor in Justice, Law, and Society. She's a part of Habitat for Humanity and for fun enjoys zumba, yoga, and also reading and writing. She has a serious passion for old muscle cars from the 50's, 60's, and 70's. She is interested in GIS because of what the program does with crime mapping. She has been working on hot spot traffic maps for the Maryland State Police, as well as Welcome Wagon maps for Maryland county. She also works on maps as requested on a day by day basis.

Sam is in his junior year at Washington College. He is originally from Rockville, Maryland. He is majoring in Sociology with a minor in Justice, Law and Society. He began his interest in GIS after learning about how it relates to criminology. He currently works in the crime department making maps for different agencies and counties in the state of Maryland.

Cara is a junior from Frederick, MD majoring in Environmental Studies. She enjoys participating in every aspect of WC Theater, volunteering with the Service Council and going to shore clean-ups with SEA. This is her second year working for GIS. Cara is working on two projects, the Tanyard Branch Watershed Assessment and the Chester Branch Watershed Switchgrass Analysis. In both she is utilizing ArcMap and ArcGIS Online to complete environmental analysis of each Watershed.

She is part of Students Helping Honduras, and the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. Zoe is working on improving the Washington College's Introduction to GIS class. This school year she will be working as a student aide for the Introduction to GIS class.

She is from Reisterstown, MD, and hopes to pursue post-graduate studies in Art History and Political Inequality, with the goal of becoming a researcher for a University or Museum. Currently, she is a photographer for the Washington College Elm, and is working on the Easton 3D project.

Between the summers of 2010-2012, Sean Lynn has worked as an Intern at the GIS Lab at Washington College. Currently Sean is attending Coastal Carolina University in South Carolina and is a rising Senior. Sean is pursuing an Undergrad Degree in Computer Science Information Systems and starting in May 2013, Sean will be starting his Master Degree in Business. Sean has been challenged over the past three summers working on multiply tasks such as: designing logos to making fire routes for all the Washington College dorms to being the head night counselor for the GIS summer camp.

This summer Emily is working on classifying the Tanyard Branch watershed based on Land Based Classification Standards (LBCS). This involves assigning parcels five different numerical codes denoting the activity, function, structure, site, and ownership of the land and is in use by the American Planning Association. By classifying the watershed in this manner it is easier to understand the land use at a glance.

This summer he attended the Geospatial Discoveries Summer Program where he experienced working on Autodesk 3DS, Google Sketch Up, and Unity. Austen will be working on building a 3D Model of the Chestertown area using Google SketchUp.

He is currently researching indicators of local sustainability and methods for incorporating those indicators into a spatial multi-criteria decision analysis model. While attending Ohio University, Walter has been a TA for Geography 101 and Remote Sensing labs. Walter Kropp has a B.A. in Geography from Wittenberg University and is pursuing an M.A. in Geography at Ohio University. He is currently researching indicators of local sustainability and methods for incorporating those indicators into a spatial multi-criteria decision analysis model. While attending Ohio University, Walter has been a TA for Geography 101 and Remote Sensing labs. At the Washington College GIS lab, he has developed GIS course curriculum for the GPS, Remote Sensing, and 3D Analyst topics and also taught in the GIS Student and Teacher Camps.

Michael is earning his MS in Geography from Texas A&M University and has strong research interests in GIS and Geomorphology, specifically hurricane erosional forms and processes. At A&M, Michael has been a TA for Physical Geography and Geomorphology labs and has also participated in research projects in Costa Rica and on the Texas coast. In the Washington College GIS Lab, Michael has made maps for Kent County Tourism and Kent County Chamber of Commerce. Michael also taught in the GIS Summer Camp and has worked developing the Intro, Intermediate, and Advanced GIS course curricula.

She hopes to continue to expand this project and GPS the exact locations of all the trees and identify them by tree species. She would encourage everyone to take a GIS class because it is a useful skill for almost any field.

Marian is a senior Anthropology major, minoring in both Math and English. Her free time is divided between Lead GIS Intern, Head Circulation Desk Assistant at the Clifton M. Miller Library, President of ODK, Treasurer of Lambda Alpha and Anthropology Club, Vice President of CCM, member of SJF, the Printing Press Workshop, and her thesis. Her thesis uses GIS to show the affect of shoreline recession on archaeological sites in Dorchester County, MD. Marian's GIS internship project entails the creation of Intro to GIS curriculum for the Dover Area High School in Dover, PA. After graduation, Marian plans to get a masters degree in Public Folklore.

Laura is spending her time as a GIS intern creating maps of Kent County's Worton Park. She is working to provide the Parks and Recreation department with maps to enable visitors to easily locate sports fields and facilities. She will also provide maps of utilities, roads, walkways, and plants to allow smoother maintenance and everyday functioning of the park. Laura will then teach the Parks and Recreation department how to navigate and update the database she is creating and how to use the GIS software. Laura has previously interned with the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum and the Chesapeake Bay Environmental Center. She is an Environmental Studies major and is writing her Senior Capstone Experience on the Water Crisis in China. Laura is a member of Zeta Tau Alpha, the Student Environmental Alliance, Order of Omega, and works as a caterer and telecounselor on campus.
