Spoken word phenom Kevin Coval, who appeared four times on Russell Simmons' hit HBO series "Def Poetry," will be in residency at the LitHouse in mid-April. Coval's visit will include a DC workshop at the Institute for Policy Studies and a reading at DC's historic Busboys & Poets on April 17, a workshop in the LitHouse's "Spoken Word Assembly" program, and a performance on the LitHouse's enclosed porch. Coval is author of Everyday People and Slingshots, anthologized in The Spoken Word Revolution, and called "our hope for a new world of peace, grace, and beauty" by the legendary Studs Terkel. Coval will also screen Louder than a Bomb, a new film by Jon Siskel and Greg Jacobs about the nation's largest youth poetry festival in Chicago.
