Sigma Tau Delta

Sigma Tau Delta, an international English honor society, recognizes students who excel in the study of English language and literature.  Our goals include distinguishing undergraduate students for their accomplishments in literary endeavors, promoting interest in literature and the English language on our campuses and our surrounding communities, and fostering the discipline of English in all its aspects, including creative and critical writing.

The Alpha Mu Nu chapter at Washington College is currently led by President Samantha Gross, Vice President Kimberley Uslin, and Secretary/Treasurer Michael Bullock.  Our faculty co-sponsors are Professor Elizabeth O’Connor and Professor Courtney Rydel.
Stay tuned for details on our next monthly meeting and upcoming events!

Opportunities for Members

All declared English majors are eligible to be Social Members at the chapter level and participate in our events!  If you would like to join Sigma Tau Delta, please send an email to eoconnor2@washcoll.edu or crydel2@washcoll.edu.

Full members must meet the membership requirements.  We enroll new members in the fall and spring semesters.  Formal inductions will be held in the spring.

Sigma Tau Delta provides opportunities for community service on issues of literacy and reading, campus activities and events, competitive national scholarships for tuition, graduate school, and study abroad, national awards for writing, and a national convention.  Through the Society, Washington College students are also eligible for publication in Sigma Tau Delta’s numerous academic journals and newsletters.
