The Department of Chemistry offers Honors sections of General Chemistry I and General Chemistry II. So what’s so special about these courses?
First and foremost, honors classes are much smaller—limited to a maximum of 18 students—so you’ll have greater opportunities for interactive learning experiences and the faculty/student collaboration that defines the Washington College experience.
We spend more time on real-world applications of the course material and, in the laboratory portion of the course, you’ll get hands-on experience with modern analytical instrumentation, pyrotechnics demonstrations, and green chemistry. In addition, students are introduced to products of the future, such as computer modeling software and biodiesel and solar-powered fuel cell cars.
