Relay for Life 2013
What is Relay?
Relay for Life is a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. As their Relay for Life website explains, “At Relay For Life events, communities across the globe come together to honor cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against a disease that has already taken too much.” Relay offers participants the opportunity to share their experiences and to support each other while raising money to invest in cancer research and in providing free services and information to individuals with cancer.
Relay Itinerary
Will this be your first Relay? Well, here is what to expect!
Relay for Life is an overnight event. Over the course of the evening, at least one person from every team must be on the track at all times, unless the event staff indicates otherwise.
Every Relay for Life Event comprises several key components:
- Survivors’ Lap
- Luminaria Ceremony
- Fight Back Ceremony
In addition, many student clubs and organizations have booths selling various items as fundraising.
