Class of 2012
Priyanka Parikh

Priyanka Parikh '12 is a Psychology major with a concentration in Behavioral Neuroscience. She lives two and a half hours north of New York City, NY in a small town called Red Hook. Ever since she was able to start volunteering at a local hospital is what started her love of helping people, and wanting to have a medical career. This past summer 2010, she had an Internship where she worked with children with disabilities ages five to twenty two at Camp Ramapo, in Rhinebeck, New York. This is where she discovered her love of working with children ages 5-13, and that she wants to now work with children with developmental and behavioral disabilities later on in her life.
She is the President of Washington College Chapter of Best Buddies; a club that works with the local Kent Center and the adults with developmental disabilities in Chestertown. The club is dedicated to helping these adults improve their leadership and social skills, by involving them in one-to-one friendships with college students on campus. Plus sharing and enjoying movie nights, picnics, and various activities with them throughout the year.

Q & A
Hometown and High school? I am from Red Hook, Upstate New York, and I attended Red Hook High School.
Favorite Class? Introduction to Biology with Dr. Krochmal, because he always made class interesting, but challenged us at the same time. From that knowledge and skills, I gained in that class, I can take on any class and be successful. In addition, you will always find yourself fascinated, and laughing in all of his classes.
Recommended Professor? Dr. Krochmal, just his personality, and the way he carries out his classes, and the memories will stay with you forever.
Most memorable experience as a first-year student? Seeing Dr. Krochmal dressed up in a skirt, and women's clothes after losing a bet with the class over an exam first semester. It was definitely the best class ever!
If I had a superpower, what would it be and why? I think it would be the ability and power to fly. I think it would be amazing and a lot of fun. In addition, I would be able to go anywhere, and see everything I wanted all around the world!
If I could be an animal? I would be an okapi they are unique and interesting animals. Okapis are a combination of a zebra and a giraffe, with a very long tongue.
One thing you should not forget? Your personality, because you never know who you will end up meeting, and all the long lasting friendships you will make.
